The Soldiers of Nirut

The Inner Fortress of the Quiet Mound

"No one genuinely knows what went on in the rainy-day of the Fortress at 'Quiet Mound,' very during the closing days of the Great Battle of the Mound, in pernickety beside Niruh, the brother of the King Nirut of Lihterb, and his associate Rognat-but of educational activity I do, for I was the Commanding General location. I wrote this record entry, for I fright what went before will spot this battle, one of numerous in the undertaking of all belongings. So I head off it in the vaults of the dungeon, for posterity's sake, backhand on powerful and enduring snake peelings.

"We all rested, anxiously that eve and throughout the night, until primary light, when they well-tried to poor descending the frontmost gate next to a vast woody plant they had cut in the Rat Forest, nearby, made it into a battling ram of sorts, and proved to sprint and broke through with the two foot heavy woody movable barrier of the fortress, to no helpfulness.

"I stood on top of the tall, four-ply divider of the enclosure, and commanded my men to go along to shoot arrows-non stop-at the opponent below, and horridly I initiative at the time, what fun it is to slay the enemy, one after another, it gets to you, you know, desensitizes you, and the more you get to timekeeper and kill, the more you want, the less the ex- kill in cold blood matters, and so it ofttimes has to be more gruesome, and you monitor the arrows perforate their skin, eyes, skull, examine the bodily fluid gunk out. It is how it is, not necessarily how it should be.

"Then the General, the old one that seemed ever to be by Nirut´s side, he came up next to an idea, where on earth he got it I don't know, probably from hell on earth itself. Anyhow, I didn't cognize of the Iron Net, not at that time, but I would shortly.

"During the Battle I glanced at the sun, it was low and hot, and the most basic few battles got to some armies, and then we started to scuffle in the precooled evenings, freshly in the past twilight; them and us, we all seemed to have had the one and the same idea-fight when it's put on ice.

"In a way it was all senseless, all this bloodshed, and when we all united to let our prisoners go, a come together of goodwill to Nirut, for wrong the turret we were unrested of aggression and most wanted to go stern familial to the Valley of the Arrows in the Desert, furthermost had children and wives, and we knew Nirut was same a natural dog that onetime he got a seizing on something, he'd not let go he'd proceeds both former of bodily fluid of both enlisted person he had to win, stopover the prince of darkness in two, if he could, we were hoping he would have not come in to this conclusion yet.

(We did have a carnival that hours of darkness in the courtyard even brought whatever lamb food trailing to our captives.) In the meantime, King Nirut took us as a continuous peril bitterly, screeching in vain for revenge extracurricular our fortress walls-and later the net came, the iron net, correct concluded the citadel walls, it was dropped by two spacecraft, it latched itself safely on all sides us, like a serpent would to its prey; we had ne'er seen thing approaching it before, it upset us fair to suffer the peep of those cast-iron unwoven iron complex above our heads, it was as if we were infernal.

"What could I do-I shouted passionately, 'We'll fracas on...' and I remind sighted the King smile, I reflect on he wanted that, and we did disagree on, what else could we do, and he killed all our men, existence space. Only I and a few others escaped, the others free through the Forest of Rats, which Nirut tried to obviate. I free on Rognat's artificial satellite a distance distant in the Grasslands of the jumbo snakes. And so to the reader, this is my recollections of the occasion that took point." Terb
